Fish Fry
After traveling to furthest regions of Israel on Friday morning, we left Caesarea Philippi to bus back to the Sea of Galilee for a late group lunch arriving at the restaurant at 2:30 PM Friday Afternoon. The restaurant is appropriately called “St. Peter’s Fish”. I must say that lunch was difficult for me since I am unable to debone a fish.

Capernaum
After the fish lunch at the Sea of Galilee we went to Capernaum, the place where Jesus started his ministry and where he lived for two years. Jesus did many miracles in and around Capernaum. Peter’s mother-in-law had a house there and there was a large synagogue the Jesus attended. Yet, the people there rejected the Gospel. Jesus would later proclaim, “And as for you, Capernaum! Did you want to lift yourself up to heaven? You will be thrown down to hell! If the miracles which were performed in you had been performed in Sodom, it would still be in existence today!” A few decades later the Romans destroyed the city and it has never been rebuilt.

Magdala
The last city that we visited in the Galilee region was the home of Mary Magdalene, the city of Magdala. Mary was once possessed by many demons. Jesus delivers her. Mary became a dedicated disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ. And she stayed loyally by his side never wavering in faith through the ordeal of the Cross and she trusted that He would rise again, as she would later witness.
