PURPOSE: The Associate in Biblical Studies (ABS) program is a course of study with a broad, general Biblical scope. It supplies a foundation of Bible knowledge needed by everyone regardless of ministry or profession.

OBJECTIVE: When the student completes the degree, be or she should be able to:

1.Communicate biblical truths clearly and effectively
2. Relate the present to the past by understanding Bible history
3. Demonstrate a general knowledge of biblical concepts and theological truths.
4. Solve human problems systematically, using analytical and critical problem solving techniques.
5. Acquire Bible knowledge through personal research and develop a research method.
Associate In Biblical Studies
CREDIT REQUIREMENTS: Students receiving this degree are ready for study at the bachelor's degree level. The ABS degree requires 60 credit hours (I -2 years) of study and a passing grade on the New Testament Examination, which may be oral or written, depending on the choice of the MVBI Staff.
The following total number of credits are required:
15 credits in General Education
15 credits in Biblical Studies
15 credits in Theological Studies
6 credits in Christian Ministry
6 credits in Christian Education and counseling
3 credits in Elective Courses
Thirty hours per year of active participation in a service-oriented ministry
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have a high school diploma or its equivalent for admission to the Associate in Biblical Studies Program.
